Literally "prostitute's" sauce, pasta puttanesca is uniquely pungent with anchovies/paste,roasted garlic, capers, and olives all mashed up. I did mine with eggplant and tomatoes, baked until the skins shriveled up, then scooped into the saucy mush for one tasty topping. What's great is that this sauce requires little oil and absolutely no meat or cheese...a plus for cholesterol-watching me.
